Final scores: Heatherton Utd 4 - Knox City FC 0 (Loss)
Both teams came into this fixture having lost their last game, Heatherton having been hit for six by Casey Comets and Knox being beatan at home by Dandenong City. On paper it looked like a game that might be evenly contested. However that is not how the fixture finished.
Knox had to make changes to its team with Aiden Verdun out through illness and Ben Kasehagen not being available resulting in Judd Flores and Josh Valadon going into the defence and Semir Sivic going into the forward line.
Heatherton started the game strongly and had the ball in the Knox net in the fifth minute through Ryan Don Paul but the goal was disallowed for offside. Heatherton did take the lead in the ninth minute when a freekick from their left wing was deflected into the net by Ben Rowbotham.
Knox made sporadic attacks into the Heatherton half but Adam Asanovski in the Heatherton goal was untroubled.
Heatherton had the ball in the net again in the 20th minute through Anthony Selemidis but again it was disallowed for offside. However Selemidis did make one count in the 26th minute when a cross was headed by Ryan Don Paul onto Selemidis who made no mistake and gave Chris Marshall in the Knox goal no chance.
Knox came into the game towards half time and gave the Heatherton defence some anxious moments with Shayann Missaghi having one chance when he shot just past the far post and Phill Ajao’s speed down the left wing causing Mirza Pedic and Edin Becirovic problems.
The second half was fairly even until Heatherton scored two late goals. Heatherton attacked down their right wing through Ryan Don Paul whose centre was met by Mirza Pedic who tucked it into the goal. Ryan Don Paul scored the fourth goal in the 80th minute to round out a fairly comfortable win to the home side.
Knox finished the game with selection problems for next week with Semir Sivic having pulled a hamstring and Josh Valadon damaging his knee. Heatherton would be happy to have got there season back on track.
